Description
Swordfight is a fictional journal about jaded New York salesman, Omar Goode who in spite of his cynical philosophies about sex, love and relationships falls for an optimist from Chicago. Although the distance between them presents its own challenges they manage to establish a genuine connection that is tested when one of Omar's old flames come back into the picture and stir up conflict. As the new bond flourishes and the old reignites, truths are revealed and issues related to the Goode family's past surface. As a result Omar is confronted with old and new personal demons that force him to reevaluate the person he is and ultimately the person he wants to become. Fortunately his lifelong friends are there to offer their support and tough love but will it be enough to keep him on the right path? Swordfight poignantly delves into one man's inner psyche and exposes the good, bad, ugly and indifference that exists in relationships. Walter Vickerie is originally from Brooklyn, New York where he and his five siblings were raised by strict working class parents. Throughout his early years he gravitated towards most things crea ve, yet didn't pursue an ar s c career because of his interest in being a corporate professional. Over the years he has worked in the client service industry for major retail/investment bankers, Chase Bank and Goldman Sachs. He also devoted four years of his life to serve in the U.S. Army where he worked in military logis cs and eventually achieved the rank of sergeant. It was during those years of service he uninten onally discovered an interest in creative writing through his le ers and journals. He later pursued his bachelor's degree in Corporate Communica ons from Baurch College and currently resides in New York City.
